How to export a WhatsApp chat to PDF on iPhone

🔒 Your chat never leaves your device. Everything is processed inside your browser; nothing is uploaded.

ℹ️ Charlario only converts your own chat export file: the .txt or .zip that WhatsApp itself gives you through its official “Export chat” feature. The file is processed locally in your browser and never uploaded. Charlario is not a downloader or scraper: it does not connect to WhatsApp or to any account, and it cannot read chats from anyone's phone. Charlario is not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta.

⚠️ Don't open or unzip the .zip file. Save it (iPhone: Save to Files), then tap Choose chat file in Charlario and pick the .zip.
📱 On iPhone, Charlario doesn't appear in the share menu. Use Save to Files, then pick the .zip here.

WhatsApp on iPhone can't save a chat as a PDF directly. It exports a .zip file containing a text file (_chat.txt) and, if you choose to, your photos. Turning that export into a readable PDF takes about a minute.

1. Export the chat from WhatsApp

  1. Open the chat (a person or a group).
  2. Tap the contact or group name at the top.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Export Chat.
  4. Choose Attach Media to include photos, or Without Media for a smaller, faster file.

2. Save the .zip to the Files app

In the share sheet, tap Save to Files and pick a folder such as On My iPhone → Downloads. Don't unzip it; the PDF tool reads the .zip directly, photos included.

3. Turn it into a PDF

  1. Open Charlario in Safari and tap Choose chat file.
  2. Tap Browse and pick the .zip from Files.
  3. Choose which participant you are (your messages go on the right), then create the PDF.
  4. Open the PDF and use the Share button to Save to Files, print it or send it.
